I first sketch out the design with a pencil and measuring tools to ensure balance and precision. Together, we can tweak it to suit your unique preferences. This gives you the opportunity to visualize the new look before I start tattooing. I consider pre-drawing to be the most important step of the whole procedure, because based on your facial dimensions and preferences, a customized design is created giving balance and also lifting your entire look. Once we’re both happy with the shape, we can move on.
Before starting the micropigmentation you will be asked to read and fill in the consent form. Some medical history will be checked to assess if you can undergo the treatment safely. We will then discuss your expectations of the colours. The chosen pigments will be mixed and tested on the your skin at the beginning of the procedure to ensure I made the right choice for you. A sterile cartridge, with full safety membrane, will be opened in front of you.
This first part takes 30 minutes to 1 hour
If you are worried about pain, don’t be too concerned, it is not as painful as it used to be, although everyone has a different pain tolerance. The technique applied for permanent makeup nowadays uses a digital machine with a very light touch method giving an airbrushed look that involves pin-dot pigment application. It is the best way to build up additional color with less trauma to the skin.
Usually, clients feel a little vibration or scratching sensations from the permanent makeup machine, but not for too long. Typically only during the first 30 minutes or until the designed sketch is micro shaded into the skin. After that I will apply a topical anesthetic cream to numb the skin, ensuring that you remain as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment.
I keep alternating between treatment sides in order to build-up colour slowly and also to give time for the anaesthetic cream to be effective.
When I’m ready I show you your new look and I check if there is any adjustments to be made.
This second part can take 2 to 3 hours. Typically the whole procedure takes 3 hours, but on more difficult skin or if I need to cover older treatments, it can take up to 4 hours. So make sure you reserve enough time for the complete treatment.
Remember that any cosmetic tattoo procedure is a process. Do not expect immediate results and please be patient. It will be a few weeks before you can fully appreciate the final results. In the first week it will be darker and in the second week will be lighter. It will itch when it is healing. But, do not scratch! After the fourth week the colour will stabilize. After 6 weeks you can comeback for a touch up in order to make any necessary adjustments.
Important to know that Facial Asymmetry is natural! Many are still convinced that permanent makeup allows you to make your face to someone’s beauty reference. The asymmetry gives the face uniqueness, life, personality and is unconsciously perceived by us in a harmonious way. The task of a permanent makeup artist is not to correct the natural asymmetry of the face, not to emphasize it, but to create an overall harmonious image, taking into account the characteristics of a specific person. For example, perfectly symmetrical eyebrows will only unbalance the perception of the image and distort the overall image as other parts of the face will remain asymmetrical. Together we choose the perfect shape and proportions that harmoniously fit the image according to the individual features of your face!
